Guide to Understanding Breast Cancer Treatment Research StudiesAdvances in breast cancer treatment are dependent upon the results of research studies, also known as clinical trials. Yet patients are often faced with having to make a decision about participating in a research study at a time when they are already feeling overwhelmed. This guide helps explain what's involved in being part of a clinical trial, what questions to ask, how patients are protected, and more. I research and write these guides as part of a series published by Living Beyond Breast Cancer. For each guide project, I develop, interview and consult with review committees of healthcare professionals as well as women affected by breast cancer. |
