Advances in breast cancer treatment are dependent upon the results of research studies, also known as clinical trials. Yet patients are often faced with having to make a decision about participating in a research study at a time when they are already feeling overwhelmed. This guide helps explain what's involved in being part of a clinical trial, what questions to ask, how patients are protected, and more.

I research and write these guides as part of a series published by Living Beyond Breast Cancer. For each guide project, I develop, interview and consult with review committees of healthcare professionals as well as women affected by breast cancer.
